Yesterday we’ve discussed about ASUS’ plans concerning its future products, specifically the fact that the company now intends on shipping two Chromebooks in the first quarter of 2014. Apparently, the company has great fate in the Chromebook market, and ASUS thinks that this is the right time for them to join this particular segment.
Nevertheless, the manufacturer will continue to develop its successful tablet and notebook series, and according to official reports, the company intends on focusing a bit more on smartphones as well. Find out the details below.

ASUS To Sell More Tablets and Notebooks In Q4, To Focus More On Smartphones in 2014
ASUS To Ship More Tablets, Notebooks and Smartphones
First, let’s discuss the tablet and notebook side of things. ASUS forecasts that, during Q4 2013, notebook shipments will increase by 8.9% when compared with the 3rd quarter of the year, up to a total of 4.9 million units. Tablet shipments should go up by 2.9% as well, for a total of 3.6 million units shipped by the end of 2013.
According to ASUS, the company’s net profit dropped by a whopping 26% since last year due to one-time tax expenses that have set the company back NT$1.52 billion (roughly US$51.37 million). However, ASUS’ net profit for Q3 2013 grew by 4% from the previous quarter, mainly due to the increased shipments of notebooks and tablets. Evidently, the computer giant intends on keeping the trend going, at least until the end of the year.
Interestingly enough, Asustek’s chief financial officer David Chang has also revealed that, while the company remains optimistic in regards to the desktop and laptop market, their priority is to make themselves more noticed on the smartphone market in 2014.
All in all, ASUS intends on expanding, and we’re quite excited to know that the manufacturer hasn’t given up on the smartphone market either. Could it be that we’ll see a new PadFone sequel next year?
